French Mezzo Sarah Thery is known for combining a dark and strong voice with a commanding stage presence and a probing intellect. She has headlined productions and concerts at preeminent arts institutions around Europe and has been acclaimed for the roles of Prince Orlowsky (Die Fledermaus, J. Strauss), Mrs. Noah (Noye’s Fludde, B. Britten), Romeo (I Capuleti e i Montecchi, V. Bellini), Dryade (Ariadne auf Naxos, R. Strauss) and the 3. Dame (Zauberflöte, W.A. Mozart).
She holds a Master degree in Lied and Opera from the Leipzig’s University of Music. She was an Artist in Residence at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel where she perfected her art under the guidance of José van Dam and Sophie Koch.
Sarah is also a voice of social conciousness. She explores and develops new forms of performances, adapted to a larger audience. She has been supported in this path by the the FESTIVAL AIX EN PROVENCE, LA MONNAIE and OPERA DE LILLE
In 2020, she cofounded the COLLECTIF MEUTE, an opera company designed to create lyrical art form anchored in our society : participatory operas, citizens involvement in the creating process, hybridation of music aesthetics, new technologies in sound designed, in situ installations... In this frame she has been working regularly in penitentiary, social and educative centers.
She also founded the quartet ENSEMBLE TEMPUS which creates a bound between baroque music, jazz and traditional musiqc
Holding a Masters degree in French Modern Litterature she combines her passion for writing with her work as a performer by presenting weekly radio-shows on national channels LA PREMIERE and MUSIQ3 in Belgium.
